Luis G. Guzman, Jr.

Retired from the Perth Amboy Police Department at the rank of Captain after a 25 year distinguished career. During his tenure, he was assigned as the Chief of Staff, Commander of the Support Services Division, and was detached to the New Jersey State Police Regional Operations Intelligence Center (NJ ROIC) as the only executive officer assigned to the analytical element. Recently, Captain Guzman (ret.) has been speaking at various police conferences around the country focusing on the topics of leadership, social media, and dealing with the press.

Captain Guzman is a graduate of the 52nd Basic Police Training Class of the Middlesex County Police Academy, where he was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Police Training Commission. He became a Police Academy instructor in 1994, and he has provided instruction to hundreds of officers within a variety of law enforcement disciplines, including the Middlesex County FTO Program. He is a former member of the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers and the National Association of Field Training Officers. Captain Guzman holds an M.A. in Administrative Science and a B.A. in Public Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
